1 Van 1 Man wants to make your moving experience as stress-free as possible. To enable a smooth and swift move, we request that customers give us as much information about the job as possible when booking.
Please reserve a parking space for the van before we arrive - if necessary call the local council to get permission or a permit. If parking is metered - remember to get plenty of change! The height of our Luton box van is 3.2 metres. Our smaller van is 2.5 meters tall. Please let us know if this is an issue (low bridges, car park barriers, etc).
If you are moving a fridge/freezer, remember to defrost, drain and dry them fully before we arrive. (You also have to wait 3-8 hours before you turn it on again after it has been moved.) If beds and other furniture can be dismantled you might prefer to have this done before we arrive - we are more than happy to help you dismantle something, but remember we do charge by the hour!
If possible, arrange your items close to the exit without blocking access, putting stackable boxes/crates first, followed by bulky items (e.g. furniture), suitcases and finally bags and soft items. Make sure all boxes are closed/sealed with the contents equally distributed and not overloaded.
It's much better using suitcases, holdalls and rucksacks etc than plastic bags when packing bedding or clothes - plastic bags tear easily and we dont want your things getting damaged.
We'll try our hardest to arrive within the time scale agreed, but please remember that all arrival times are estimates - delays to collection or delivery times are sometimes unavoidable due to traffic, accidents or extreme weather, etc. We will always try to let you know if we’re running late - and of course, we always pull over before using our mobile phone.
We always use protective blankets and load straps where required, but for your peace of mind, we are fully insured (see our Terms). But if - heaven forbid! - your belongings are damaged during removal, your standard Home/Contents insurance will usually cover the most common eventualities.
Generally for domestic removals, payment is made to the driver in cash or cheque (made payable to 1 Van 1 Man (Removals) Ltd. please) upon job completion. We only accept bank transfer when agreed beforehand. Business removals will be invoiced as required. If you need to postpone or cancel the job after we arrive, for whatever reason, you may be charged upto half the quoted fee.
