Following the earthquake that was Donald Trump’s election, there’s no hope of the coverage, speculation and analysis ending. Almost everybody has a thing or two to say about this and no wonder; Trump’s administration is likely to have global effects, for good or ill.
What can we, a humble removal firm from York, contribute on the subject? Have we anything to say? As it happens, we do. Outside the political battleground, we’re actually quite interested in how Donald Trump will move house. It is our business after all!
As we’re sure you’re aware, the White House is the domestic and working residence of the President. Now, although Trump is hinting that he might split residencies, Pennsylvania Avenue will officially be his primary address. It is where the President, his staff, his family and bodyguards will all live for the next four years. Luckily for all, the White House is quite spacious.
Did you think the Secret Service provide their own vans? Just because he’s President does not mean Donal Trump can teleport belongings across the country. Even the most powerful man in the world has to use a moving firm; some things are best left to the experts after all.
The Secret Service must liaise with a private removal company and arrange for all of Trump’s possessions to be moved after his inauguration. The same goes for our own Prime Minister, as covered in this article about David Cameron hiring a London removal firm for his entry and exit to Downing Street.
Tradition dictates that the President must move from 12pm on January the 20th - not a minute sooner. That leaves the first family with just 12 hours to get everything organised before the first term in office begins. Now, although Melania and Baron Trump won’t move until after the school year, that still leaves the first family with an awful lot of work. Besides the usual clothes, wardrobes and priceless possessions, Trump must also hire a chef, decorate the Oval Office and even plan his own funeral! A busy day by anybody’s standards.
The White House sounds like a dream home to some, but not for others. Where do you sit on this? We’d love to know, so why not write to us in the comments?
