If you are packing yourself do make sure that heavier items are placed in smaller boxes to make them easier to carry and to use packing materials which are fit for purpose.

Whether you choose to accept this help or not make sure that you secure the pieces of furniture together, have all screws, nails, hinges and associated parts in a bag attached with everything else and if possible the instructions handy. Removal teams are not qualified, insured or allowed to deal with anything mains electricity supply related. If your cooker needs to be disconnected have this done prior to moving day, disconnect washers and dryers, empty, clean and dry fridges and freezers and ensure doors are taped shut for ease and safety when moving them.
Removal teams won’t move gas canisters, opened tins of paint, matches, paraffin and indeed any similar volatile items you may find in your garage or shed. Doing so would invalidate their insurance and cause a potential hazard. Check with your removal team however be prepared to make alternative arrangements for items such as these.
Plan out your moving day carefully during the run up to the move and you should enjoy a seamless transition and be soon settled in your new home.

Excellent Service! I would highly recommend them. We forgot to confirm our removal via email. The day of the removal I woke up at 4.30am with a doubt I realize that the removal firm was indeed not confirmed (my fault). I called the manager Dale who managed to save the day by organising a last-minute team. The guys did a fantastic job, dismantling/reassembling an expensive ottoman bed and taking it up to the second floor through an incredibly tight staircase without a scratch. They wrapped and protected everything, also items which really didn't need any protection. Everything has been moved without a scratch to the furniture and the premises. And the price was not even comparable to other moving companies in York. I have been charged lucrative quotes from other companies, given that we did all the boxes, we had very few furniture (one king bed, a sofa, table and chairs) and the old and new places were just 3 roads away. I could not believe how different the quotes were and I could not understand how to justify such a huge difference. We eventually decided to take the "risk" to go with 1 Van 1 Man Removals who quoted us a fraction of the others. I am so pleased we decided to go with them, I cannot imagine what more they could have done! Highly recommended. Just remember to confirm your booking by email.
