The name Snape might come from the Old Norse for an area of boggy, uncultivated land, but the village today is anything but a damp squib! Ideally located between the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors, with some of Yorkshire's finest countryside on the doorstep, we're always happy to be in the area — whether that's helping a resident with a removals task, or enjoying a wander around the lovely grounds of Thorp Perrow when we have some time off.
Snape sits around 35 miles north of our York removal base, near Bedale. We also cover the surrounding villages of Thirsk, Well, Thornton Watlass and Carthorpe.
A Village Fit For Royalty
If you're keen to follow in the footsteps of famous Snape residents Cecily Neville (mother of both Edward IV and Richard III) and Catherine Parr (Henry VIII's sixth and final wife) by moving into the village, well, we commend your taste!
With a fine selection of stone cottages to choose from, a wisteria-clad pub to frequent, and easy access to the A1, we can certainly understand why demand for our removals expertise in the DL8 area has only increased in recent years.
What Snape Residents Value About Our Service
Between the Dales and the Moors, here's what a Snape move actually gets from us:
- We’re sticklers for timekeeping: The last thing you need on the day of your move is to be kept waiting .
- We keep prices clear: do you find it annoying when a company suddenly adds on loads of extra costs and charges to a quote? Us too, that’s why we don’t do it .
- We’re available 24/7: life is rarely a 9 - 5 which is why we’re available when you need us, including at weekend and on bank holidays .
- We keep costs low: from plotting the shortest, most convenient routes for fuel efficiency, to maintaining our vans to the highest standards. We’re all about passing on the savings to you .
- We’re professionals: we only employ the best, which means that all of our uniformed, courteous team share the same high standards and belief in customer care that you expect.
- We keep in touch: we get in touch on the day of the move to make sure everything is going okay. In the meantime, if you ever have any questions for us, we’d be delighted to answer them.

Snape - Not a Bog-Standard Castle
Because of the marshy land on which it was built, the now partly derelict Snape Castle doesn’t have any traditional foundations, instead it sits on massive oaken piles which were driven into the ground around 700 years ago!
Peace of Mind as Standard
Your peace of mind is of paramount importance to us, which is why, unlike many other companies, we include full public liability and Goods in Transit insurance as standard with all of our jobs. Accidents are thankfully extremely rare, but we want you to know your goods are in safe hands.
